Generosity Plants Seed for IAHCSMM's Education Fund
Since its inception, IAHCSMM has been committed to providing the very best educational resources and knowledge advancement opportunities to Central Service professionals.
Among the educational initiatives in IAHCSMM's portfolio is the Education Fund. Through the establishment and continued support of the fund, IAHCSMM will have the necessary resources to develop industry-leading educational tools for its members, while also laying the foundation for the development of future educational offerings.
"We know that success in CS simply cannot happen in the absence of continuing education," explained IAHCSMM Past President Richard Schule. "The Education Fund will raise the bar for those in the CS discipline by providing yet another opportunity for skill advancement and professional development."
Of course, as the name implies, the IAHCSMM Education Fund will require strong financial support if its CS management educational initiatives are to flourish. Fortunately, the Association has already seen a tremendous amount of generosity.
During the May 5, 2008, STERIS Luncheon in Reno, it was formally announced that STERIS had become a founding donor for the IAHCSMM Education Fund. The company's generous $50,000 donation, which will help seed the fund, was given in honor of IAHCSMM's 50th anniversary, and in recognition of the Association's many achievements in supporting best practices in infection prevention.
"STERIS has been a longstanding supporter of IAHCSMM and the Central Service Material Management profession," said Richard Schule. "We are honored and humbled by the company's generous contribution to the IAHCSMM Education Fund."
There's no question that when industry leaders contribute to educational initiatives and CS professionals commit to boosting their knowledge and advancing their skills, everyone benefits.
"Whether we provide education ourselves or support qualified organizations that provide quality programs, the end result is the same – optimal patient care," noted Marshall Dahneke, Vice President and General Manager of STERIS' Infection Prevention Technologies division.
Every donation – regardless of the amount – will add up to something big. With the support of vendors, IAHCSMM chapters and other CS stakeholders, we can continue to raise the bar for educational excellence in CS. --Richard Schule
