IAHCSMM
Regionalization Proposal

  Goal
  • To replace the Fall IAHCSMM Meeting with Regional Educational Meetings.

Target Year

  • 2006

Rationale

  • Today hospitals are facing budget problems thereby restricting support for attendance at educational conferences. This affects the ability for CS personnel to attend more than one 4-day conference a year but still affords the opportunity to attend seminars at the local/regional level because of being cost effective.
  • Regional meetings will provide an opportunity to reach Central Service personnel especially technicians who need educational support and a way to accumulate continuing education hours for recertification.

The Plan

Implementation

  • Each Region would meet annually in the fall season (September - November)
  • Each Region would have a Regional Director appointed by the Membership/Chapter Chairperson with consultation from the IAHCSMM Executive Board.
  • The Region would decide on the location and date of the meeting.
  • The Region's "Meeting Committee" would plan and implement the conference
(topics, speakers, exhibits, social events, etc.).
  • IAHCSMM Headquarters would serve as an advisory source and provide marketing assistance. The Regional Director would be present at each Regional Meeting. If possible, an Executive Board member would be in attendance at a regional meeting.
  • Profits of the meeting would be returned to the Chapters participating in the regional
    conference.
  • Meetings could include regional vendor exhibits (table top displays)
