Are there any restrictions or guidelines on the presence of dehumidifiers in CP? Whether standalone machines are allowed, if so how often should they be emptied, how often should they be cleaned, any concerns re: the exhausted air in the rear of the machines?

Thank you.

AAMI references refer to percentage of relative humidity, not how it should be achieved.
I have never seen a free standing dehumidifier in any SP, temp and humidity should be controlled by a the facility central HVAC system.
I would be a little cautious about the micro organisms which may develope in dehumidifier machines not properly maintained.
Also is the AAMI directive about no free standing fans in decontam, I suppose the machine could be considered a free standing fan which may disrupt the air flow.

Thank you. That was our take on the situation. We had pulled these, but there was some disagreement within the department as to their utility vs. the risks they posed, even when emptied q 8 hours.
