Weck Blades

[New SPD Manager]

Does anyone have any thoughts on sterilizing Weck blades? I ordered from Weck, they come unsterile with a cardboard band around blade to protect it. Can that cardboard be sterilized by steam? Does the blade get sterile underneath it?

What about giving Weck a call and asking them about their sterilization validation study results? They should be able to provide you with the parameters, etc.

we put them in the sterradand not having any trouble --when we steamed them they rusted before use

Not sure what these blades are, but I am pretty sure that the cardboard will not sterilize. Also, Sterrading sounds like a plausible solution, after removing the cardboard, but you want to make sure that you get the instructions from Weck saying that you can do this. Let us know what you come up with!
