View Full Version : Going out of our minds
Just the other day I do believe our I/C lost their common sense  It all started with Maintenance sand blasting a metal door in surgery in the sterile storage area  with this creating lots of dust all over everything. Surgery called this to I/C's attention, I/C decided they better ask Central Sterile what we thought on the matter. It was only a thin layer of dust can they go ahead and use it or did it need to be resterilized (with the same paper). We said h??? no  everything will have to be washed and wrapped again. What I'm wondering is did we do the right thing when it came to our part of the mess? Thanks for any input!! :D

Amazing where they get these ideas.. Dust would be bad enough, but steel dust!? Oh, my ... you did the CORRECT process

You did the right thing. I cannot beleive your IC people would ask you all the question without them telling the OR that things would have to be rewashed and rewrapped and be sterilized.

This in reply to my first message. Since our big mishap in O.R. with the sanding of the door. Everything is back to normal and new policies has been made. We did find out that Maintenance went ahead without consulting O.R. before they started the job. So it was more a Maintenance mishap then I.C. for they took this upon themselves to do it on nightshift when no one was here.
Thanks, for your input!
