As long as the bed sheet is hospital cleaned, it can be sterilized and therefore should be ok to use as a wrap before the kimguard. We use large drapes and surgical towels, however we do sterilize bed linens for use on burn patients. Joyce

Shouldn't there be a concern about the lint factor? There was a thought provoking presentation at the Cleveland Meeting about lint and how it can affect patient care.

I do not think a bed sheet meets the AAMI standards for textile wrapper. Bed sheet doess not have any barrier to microorganisms as a wrapper has. I do not have the AAMI standards with me but you can contact me and I will be glad to share them with you.

I think the question was, is it ok to wrap a sheet around an item, THEN place it in kimguard.
I dont know why it wouldnt be ok, as long as it was lint free.

 What are you wapping and why do you feel you need a sheet to protect the integrity of the package?

We have used a linen sheet for protections on trays that do not have lids on them then wrap in a blue kimberly clark wrap. Also my question to everyone is - does anyone out there use a cloth wrap that is made for sterilizing on larger trays instead of blue kimberly clark wrap??

How can a linen sheet protect instruments? And against what exactly the sheet is expected to protect instruments? I am just curious!
