We have a new CS tech in our dept. who is latex sensitive. There are two items of concern. Gloves and the sterilizer tape that we are having trouble locating that are latex free. The only gloves we can locate are not heavy duty gloves suitable for use in the decontamination room. The sterilization tape is actually a two fold problem. Not only for our employee, but for latex sensitive patients. Anyone had to deal with this situation before that has any insight?

there are some very good nitrile gloves on the market and we use them in our dirty side and we do all our insts by hand so they hold up well.

what about the indicator tape? I have emailed 3m, and i have looked online, to no avail trying to locate latex free tape, noone lists their tape as latex free. you would think this would be a bigger issue.

I have been latex sensitive for several years, but have had no problems with the Indicator Tapes on the market.

You may try SPS Medical, I am not sure if they have a latex free tape but I thought I heard it mentioned that they did in Cleveland.

FYI, the topic of the conversation was how poorly the latex free tape stuck.

We use the nitrile decontamination gloves from Kimberley Clark and have no problems.
