I would like to know if anyone out there has an employee ( male) who has one of the new looks for head being shaved and does not feel it necessary to wear a head covering. What is your policy - if not applicable at present time what would be your stance on this?
thanks

I guess you have to ask why are we wearing head covering in the first place, because of the possiblity of hair getting in the instruments so if their is no hair why the cover? Makes sense to me. If he keeps it shaved there is no need for cover. That is a policy I will also look into in case that ever comes up in our facility.

Remember your head/scalp sheds (skin flakes, dandruf, etc) and you don't want to take a chance of any of that ending up in your trays. It's not always the stuff you can see that causes problems, it's also the stuff you can't see.

I guess I'm a little confused about where this has gone with skin flaking and all. Hair coverings are to keep hair out. Remember cells flake from your entire body-including your face and hands. We do not work totally encased in protective coverings. At our facility, if you are bald or shaved, you do not have to wear head coverings.
