This course is designed specially for healthcare vendors to provide a means to obtain information about the Central Service department’s processes and the role of the vendor as it relates to this specialized area of the hospital. Whether you are just beginning to interact with the CS department or have been providing support to CS for several years, the information in this course is designed to help you gain a better insight into your customer’s world.
Perhaps no one is more educated in your products and processes than you are. However, oftentimes your training about the CS department is focused directly on your product or service and how that interfaces with a specific area of CS. With that in mind, this course is designed to provide you with a broader picture of the CS environment and present you with information about the factors that influence protocols and purchasing decisions in Central Service.
We know you are busy, so we designed this course to fit into your schedule. It is an independent study course that you can work on when it’s convenient for you. The combination of reading assignments and online presentations and quizzes makes it possible to complete the course from your office, your home, or even when you are traveling.
We thank you for taking the time to get better acquainted with various aspects of Central Service, and we hope that you find this course beneficial as you continue to develop and enhance your relationships with your clients, the departmental Central Service professionals.
When you are ready to begin the course, you can easily purchase it through our online store. You also have the option of mailing/faxing your order to us, though all participants in the CCSVP course should be aware that the bulk of the coursework will be done only online through the IAHCSMM website.
The CCSVP course costs $450 and includes the following:
The course materials (Central Service Technical Manual, 7th Edition® plus an Information Packet) will be sent to you via UPS. All other course materials (PowerPoint presentations, quizzes and final exam) will be accessed online. A valid email is required at time of purchase to electronically send you instructions for entering and using the CCSVP Portal (see entrance above).
By applying for the course you will become an IAHCSMM Associate Member (if you are not one already) and you will be assigned an IAHCSMM Membership number. By entering your first and last name plus your IAHCSMM Membership number, you will then be able to access the CCSVP Portal.
Your access to the portal will begin once you receive an email notification, and you will have one year of online access to complete all coursework, commencing with the purchase date of the course.
Once you have completed the six CCSVP Lesson Plans and Final Exam, you will be able to print a certificate of completion. When you are ready, you can complete your 32 Hours of required hands on experience, signed off by two different hospital/surgery center locations. You will then be prepared to sit for the certification exam through Prometric. Details for scheduling a certification exam will be given upon acceptance of the CCSVP Certification Exam application.
.
There are 2 main components to your course, the IAHCSMM Central Service Technical Manual, 7th Edition® and an online component accessed through the CCSVP Portal (above).
The course is comprised of 6 Lessons. Each Lesson contains a reading assignment and a self-study online module that includes a self-grading review quiz.
You should be using both the IAHCSMM Central Service Technical Manual 7th Edition® and the online modules to prepare for your IAHCSMM CCSVP Certification Exam. They are tools designed to help you gain the knowledge necessary to achieve certification. It is important to note that all questions on the IAHCSMM CCSVP Certification Exam are based on the reading assignments in the materials and the online study modules designed for this course.
For each Lesson, complete the reading assignment as directed, view the online study module, and when you are ready, complete the online review quiz. (Please Note: While your score on the online review quizzes does not count for a grade, it will provide you with a good indication of whether you have mastered the information contained in the Lesson)
At the end of the modules there is an online final exam. You must successfully pass each of the six module quizzes with a minimum score of 70% before you will have the ability to launch the course final exam. A score of 70% or higher on the final exam also is required for successful completion of the course.
There is a 32-hour Central Service Department Clinical Observation component required. Please review the information and requirements carefully. Each CCSVP applicant is responsible for partnering with two separate healthcare facilities to set up their Clinical Observation. (Please Note: Clinical Observations may be completed over a period of time; however, CCSVP applicants will not be allowed to schedule their certification exam until the Clinical Observation component has been completed and documented.)
Once the prerequisites (course, course final exam, and clinical observation component) have been completed, applicants will be eligible to sit for the IAHCSMM Certification Exam, CCSVP. Applications for the exam may be downloaded by clicking here:
