You’ve sent in your application and now you need confirmation
from IAHCSMM. The confirmation will assign you an identification
number to test (if you don’t already have one) and a beginning and
ending date in which you can take your exam. If you mark an email
address and wish to receive your confirmation via email, it will get
to you faster (usually the day it’s processed). Otherwise, allow up
to 7 business days to receive materials in the mail.
When you receive your confirmation materials, verify the following:
Is your first name and last name spelled correctly? If not, notify IAHCSMM immediately! When you arrive at a testing site, you will be asked to show your driver’s license, passport or state ID card, and your name will then be matched to the name on file at their site. If the names do not match exactly, you will not be able to take the exam. We can change the records at Prometric to match the correct spelling, but we can only do this prior to you making an appointment. So please make sure we have the spelling correct!
A member ID number will be listed for you. This is the number you will use to create an appointment to take the test
You will be given 90 days to schedule and take your exam. Your confirmation letter will show the first day you can schedule and the last day you can schedule. You must schedule and take your exam prior to the ending date listed on the confirmation letter. There will be no extensions granted after that date without paying another exam fee.
If you are receiving your confirmation through email, it can take up to 24 hours for your account to become current. Until that time, do not attempt to schedule an appointment
If you are receiving your confirmation through the mail, you can immediately schedule an appointment
Carefully read the enclosed brochure on scheduling (as an email attachment, you will need Adobe Acrobat to read the pdf file, and can be downloaded for free here Adobe Link)
